Podcast Users Outnumber Bloggers: Posted: 13 Sep 2006
More than 9.2 million Web users, or 6.6 percent of U.S. adult Web users, have downloaded an audio podcast in the last 30 days, compared to 6.7 million users (4.8 percent) who published blogs in that time, according to the research company. Nielsen//NetRatings also reported that around 5.6 million online adults (4 percent) have downloaded a video podcast in the last 30 days." Welcome to the world of podcasting.
Millions of people have started listening to podcasts. Not just the younger generation. You can either listen FREE on your computer, or buy an IPod, download the programs, and listen on the go.
What's so wonderful about this, is that now, anyone can search for and subscribe to specific niche-related content - absolutely FREE. Zilch. Nada. No cost to the listener! When they subscribe, podcasts automatically download (weekly) on Itunes into their computer. Then,they can transfer the program to their IPod and listen as they walk, drive to work, bicycle, or whatever. This technology is truly the wave of the future and is changing how people choose and listen to content.
My Podcast
 Many of you know that I have my own radio show - Windows to Wellness. It has aired locally in Nashville, TN and on the Internet for over six years. Just recently I took the plunge and put my show out on a podcast. Now millions of people who search for listening content, can find me, (under alternative health and self-help) on Itunes, Yahoo and other search engines. To date, Windows to Wellness has had over 3,000 downloads.
CONSIDER YOUR OWN PODCAST
If you are a business owner, healer, advisor, counselor or entrepreneur, you probably want to get your message in front of thousands of people. Consider recording your own podcast. It beats "advertising" on a radio station hands down. The only way to get "air time" with any of the better known radio networks is to shell out thousands of dollars for advertising and even then, it is "hit or miss" as to whether or not the right person is listening.
